Australian cricket legend David Warner has officially signed with the Seattle Orcas for the upcoming 2025 edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), marking his debut in the fast-growing USA-based T20 league. The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 12, 2025, and will feature top international stars across six teams.

Warner, known for his fearless batting and vast T20 experience, brings firepower to the Orcas’ top order. The 38-year-old is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captains the Karachi Kings. While his form with the bat hasn’t been remarkable in PSL 2025, his leadership has stood out, guiding the Kings to two wins in their first three games this season.

With an illustrious T20 career that spans over 400 matches, Warner has scored 12,956 runs at a strike rate of 140.27, making him one of the most prolific players in the shortest format. Despite his credentials, Warner went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, though he still holds the distinction of being the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, amassing 6,565 runs in 184 innings.

David Warner Signs with Seattle Orcas — A New Chapter in USA’s T20 Revolution

After announcing his retirement from international cricket in June 2024, Warner has continued to dominate domestic T20 leagues around the world. Earlier this year in the Big Bash League (BBL), he was in stellar form, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 405 runs in 12 innings and helping Sydney Thunder reach the final. He also played a vital role in Dubai Capitals’ title-winning campaign in the ILT20.

For the Seattle Orcas, Warner’s inclusion could not come at a better time. The franchise had a fantastic debut season in 2023, topping the table but narrowly missing the title after losing the final to MI New York. Their fortunes declined in 2024, finishing last with just a single win in seven matches under Heinrich Klaasen’s captaincy. The signing of Warner not only brings experience and star power but also leadership potential that could rejuvenate the team’s performance in the upcoming season.

The MLC 2025 will be held from June 12 to July 13, promising another thrilling summer of cricket in the United States. Warner is also expected to take part in The Hundred for London Spirit later this year, underlining his continued influence in global franchise leagues.
