Rajasthan Royals’ performance in IPL 2025 has been very disappointing

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is currently injured. Due to this injury, he will not play in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Rajasthan Royals franchise itself has confirmed this news. It has been told that Sanju is recovering from a muscle strain suffered during the match against Delhi Capitals.

Samson was already out of the Royals’ home match against Lucknow Super Giants and the team has a match against RCB on Thursday and he will not be able to return in this match as well. The Royals’ medical staff has not decided the date of Samson’s return.

The Royals issued a statement saying that Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is currently undergoing the recovery process and he will remain at the team’s ‘home base’ with the Rajasthan Royals medical staff. As part of the ‘rehabilitation’ process, he will not go to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The statement further said that the team management is closely monitoring his progress and will take a match-by-match approach for his return.

In the absence of Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag is captaining Rajasthan

Riyan Parag will continue to lead the team in the absence of Sanju Samson. Riyan also captained the Royals in the first three matches of the season as Samson was only allowed to bat and was not allowed to do wicketkeeping. Samson was playing as an ‘impact sub’ in those three matches before leading the team from the fourth match.

At the same time, Dhruv Jurel will take over the wicketkeeping in the absence of Samson. In the seven matches played so far, Samson has scored 224 runs with one half-century. Under Parag’s captaincy, the Royals lost three out of four matches and won only against Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals are currently at number eight in the points table with six losses in eight matches. They seem difficult to reach the playoffs.
