Jayson Tatum played in Game 3 of the first-round series against the Orlando Magic, even though he’s recovering from a bone bruise in his right wrist. He got hurt in Game 1 and missed Game 2, which the Celtics won. In Game 3, he scored 36 points, but the Celtics lost 95-93. Jrue Holiday didn’t play due to a hamstring injury. The Celtics still lead the series 2-1.

Coach Joe Mazzulla said Tatum is getting better each day and did everything he could to be ready for the game. This was the first playoff game Tatum has ever missed. Before that, he had played in 114 straight playoff games since being drafted in 2017.

Tatum is a six-time All-Star, expected to make an All-NBA team again, and has two Olympic gold medals. He also helped Boston win the championship last year. This season, he averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists — leading the team in all three.
