Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator of IPL 2025. With this win, Hardik Pandya’s team has made its place in Qualifier-2, where it will face Punjab Kings. Let us tell you that Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Mendis was included in the playing eleven of Gujarat Titans in the eliminator match against Mumbai Indians. And he registered a bad record in his debut match itself. He became the first player to be out hit wicket in the history of IPL playoffs.
When he came to bat, he looked in good rhythm and scored 20 runs in just 10 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. Despite Shubman Gill getting out early, Kusal Mendis made a good partnership with Sai Sudarshan and brought the team back.
However, in the 7th over of the innings, while trying to play a shot on a ball from Mitchell Santner, he lost his control and his foot hit the wicket, after which he was declared hit wicket.

Talking about the match, Mumbai Indians had set a huge target of 229 runs in front of Gujarat Titans. In response, Shubman Gill and company could score only 208 runs. Rohit Sharma played an innings of 81 runs for Mumbai. Johnny Bairstow contributed 47 runs. On the other hand, Sai Sudarshan scored 80 runs for Gujarat, while Washington Sundar managed to score 48 runs.
