Virat will turn 36 this November, while Rohit Sharma marked his 37th birthday in April. Both announced their retirement from T20 international cricket following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the US, but they remain active in the other two formats.

On the big question of Rohit and Kohli’s retirement timing, Kapil Dev told the media

“Shastri retired young, whereas Sachin had a lengthy career, highlighting that lifestyle choices are personal. I believe the key is to enjoy the game, stay fit, and keep playing.”

However, Kapil believes that a cricketer is at his peak between the ages of 26 and 34. The 1983 World Cup-winning captain said,

“In my opinion, the period between 26 and 34 is your best age and after that the fitness of the players will ensure their longevity.”
