Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has made a special demand for Rohit Sharma after a stand was unveiled in his name at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 16. Rohit was honored by the Mumbai Cricket Association on Friday, May 16 for his contribution to cricket. A special stand has been made for him at the Wankhede.
Rohit Sharma’s parents honoured their son by unveiling the stand named after him. Along with Rohit, the MCA also felicitated former Indian captain Ajit Wadekar and former BCCI president Sharad Pawar. Many celebrities were present at the event, one of whom was Ravi Shastri. The former Indian coach hugged Rohit and then in his own special style asked him to hit a six on the stand named after him.

During the opening ceremony, former India coach Ravi Shastri joked with opener Rohit Sharma that he has to hit it to his stand too. After hugging Rohit Sharma, former India coach Ravi Shastri said that he should hit a six in the stand named after him. The former coach said, “Hit one there.” Rohit was laughing after hearing this and replied, “It will be done.”
Seeing a stand named after him in Wankhede, Rohit Sharma said that what is happening today, I had never imagined. You try to achieve many achievements but this is something special because Wankhede Stadium is different and many memories are made here. He said, “I cannot express my feelings to have my name here among the legends of the game and the best politician of the world. I am very grateful.
Rohit, who retired from T20 cricket after winning the World Cup for India last year, said, “I am still playing and have retired from two formats. When I play here on the 21st (IPL for Mumbai Indians) and there is a stand named after me, it will be special. Playing here for India will be very special.”
