Tiwary compared RCB winning the IPL for Virat Kohli to how India won the 2011 ODI World Cup to honor Sachin Tendulkar.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are having one of their best seasons ever in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). One player who has always been connected with the team is star cricketer Virat Kohli. Even though he has played for the team for 18 seasons and is the top run-scorer in the tournament, Kohli has never won the IPL title with RCB.

Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary believes that Virat Kohli deserves to finally lift the IPL trophy this year. He said that Kohli’s hard work and achievements over the years make him worthy of winning. Tiwary also compared Kohli’s possible IPL win to how India won the 2011 ODI World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar, as a way to honor his great contributions to the game.

Speaking to Odisha TV, Tiwary said, “With Gujarat Titans losing to Chennai Super Kings, RCB now have a better chance of finishing in the top two. It seems like everything is falling into place for RCB to end their long wait and win the IPL trophy.”

He added, “Virat Kohli truly deserves this after so many years of dedication. RCB also deserves to win. There’s no one who deserves the title more than Virat. Just like the 2011 World Cup was won for Sachin Tendulkar because of his huge contribution to Indian cricket, an IPL win this year would be a tribute to Kohli.”

RCB’s Goal: Finish Among the Top Two Teams

This season looks different for RCB, as they seem to be one of the most well-balanced teams — not just on paper, but also in how they are performing on the field. With eight wins from 13 matches, they’ve already secured a spot in the Playoffs. Their final league match is against the Lucknow Super Giants.

RCB still has a chance to make it into Qualifier 1, which is reserved for the top two teams in the standings. To do that, they must beat LSG and also hope that both Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings lose their remaining group matches. Gujarat will face Chennai Super Kings in their last game on Saturday, while Punjab Kings are set to play against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in their final two games.
