UAE defeated Bangladesh in the three-match T20 series.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) made history by defeating Bangladesh in the third T20I on Wednesday night, 21 May. By winning this match played in Sharjah by 7 wickets, the team defeated the guests 2-1 in the three-match series. With this, UAE won its first series against Bangladesh. When this series started, no one had thought that the UAE team could win this series.

UAE vs BAN T20 series was of only two matches as per the earlier schedule. This series started on 17 May. The guests won the first T20 by 27 runs and took a 1-0 lead. After this match, Bangladesh’s star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman reached India to play IPL. Earlier this was going to be a two-match series. Even if UAE wins the second match, at most the series could have been a draw.

Bangladesh shot itself in the foot

But due to the uncertainty over the Pakistan tour, BCB asked UAE to add one more match to the series so that the series could be longer. From here the game turned for UAE. By chasing the target of 206 runs in the second T20I with 2 wickets and 1 ball to spare, UAE not only won but also made the series even more exciting.

Now in the third ODI, the hosts created history by registering an easy 7-wicket win against Bangladesh and captured the series 2-1. If the Bangladesh Cricket Board had not added one more match in the series, the visiting team would not have had to face this humiliating defeat.

After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 162 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. For the visiting team, opener Tanjid Hasan and wicketkeeper Jaker Ali scored 40 and 41 runs respectively. For the UAE, Haider Ali took 3 wickets for just 7 runs in a spell of 4 overs, during which he also bowled 1 maiden over.

The hosts easily chased the target of 163 runs with 7 wickets and 5 balls remaining. The hero of UAE’s run chase was Alishan Sharafu who played an unbeaten innings of 68 runs, he was supported by Asif Khan who played an innings of 41 runs.
