Arne Slot, the new Liverpool manager who won the Premier League in his first season, says he can see himself staying at the club for a long time. He believes both the club and its owners have a strong record of trusting managers for many years. Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp, who led Liverpool for more than eight years and won several major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and Club World Cup.

Slot, a Dutch manager, joined Liverpool on a three-year contract and said he was their first and only choice to take over after Klopp. Speaking to the media, Slot shared how much he enjoys being at Liverpool and how the club’s history of long-term managers makes him feel confident about staying for a long period.

He mentioned well-known examples like Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, who managed Manchester United and Arsenal for over 20 years each. Slot also brought up the Boston Red Sox, a baseball team owned by Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group. Their manager, Alex Cora, was kept in charge even after finishing last in the league two seasons in a row. Slot said this shows how loyal the owners are to their managers.

Slot explained that both the club’s tradition and the way the owners treat their managers make Liverpool a place where someone can stay for many years. He believes Liverpool is one of the few clubs where long-term projects are really possible.

He also talked about how he ended up taking the Liverpool job. Slot said he told his agent that he only wanted the job if Liverpool saw him as their top choice. He didn’t want to go through a long process with interviews and waiting. According to Slot, Liverpool already knew everything about him—his work style, his achievements—and didn’t need a presentation or a detailed meeting. He felt their trust from the beginning.

Slot said he was quickly convinced to leave his former club, Feyenoord, because of Liverpool’s strong interest and belief in him. He added that their approach and efforts to bring him in played a big part in his decision.
