Deepti Sharma Accuses Teammate: In a stunning development, Indian cricketer Deepti Sharma has accused her Women’s Premier League (WPL) teammate Arushi Goel of stealing valuables worth over ₹25 lakh. The incident allegedly took place at Deepti’s private apartment in Agra’s Sadar area while she was away on national duty in Bengaluru.
Deepti, who captains the UP Warriorz team and also serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Uttar Pradesh, filed an official police complaint through her brother, Sumit Sharma. The FIR, registered at Sadar police station, includes serious charges such as theft, housebreaking, and criminal breach of trust under India’s new legal code, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complaint, Arushi Goel is accused of trespassing into Deepti’s locked apartment and stealing cash, jewelry, and other valuables. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at more than ₹25 lakh.
Deepti Sharma Accuses Teammate of INR 25 Lakh Rupees
In the FIR, Deepti’s brother claimed that the two cricketers had grown close while playing for the same WPL franchise. Over time, Arushi and her family allegedly began asking Deepti for money, citing financial emergencies.
“My sister trusted Arushi and supported her financially due to their friendship. However, Arushi took advantage of that trust and refused to return the money,” said Sumit Sharma while speaking to The Times of India. “Over two years, my sister lost more than ₹25 lakh.”
The complaint further mentions that the theft came to light after Deepti noticed suspicious activities while she was away. A police investigation confirmed that there was forced entry into the flat, and some valuable items were missing.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sukanya Sharma confirmed the registration of the FIR and stated, “We have registered a case under BNS sections 305 (a) for theft, 331 (3) for housebreaking, 316 (2) for criminal breach of trust, and 352 for insult with intent to provoke. The investigation has begun, and we are examining all the evidence provided.”
At present, Arushi Goel has not issued any public statement in response to the allegations.
Deepti Focused on Cricket Despite Stress
Sources close to Deepti say she has been deeply affected by the betrayal, especially given the close relationship she shared with Arushi. The incident comes at a difficult time as Deepti is currently in Bengaluru, training for Team India’s upcoming tour of England.
Despite the stress, Deepti has chosen to remain focused on her cricketing duties and has not commented publicly about the case.
Meanwhile, police authorities in Agra continue their investigation. No arrests have been made yet, but officers have said they are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence related to the case. The matter is expected to progress further in the coming days.
This dramatic accusation has sent shockwaves through the Indian women’s cricket community, where such incidents are rare. The cricketing fraternity now awaits clarity as the investigation unfolds.
