San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle has won the 2024-25 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year Award and received the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy.

Castle is the fourth Spurs player to earn this honor, joining legends like David Robinson (1989-90), Tim Duncan (1997-98), and last year’s winner, Victor Wembanyama (2023-24). The Spurs are now the first team since the Minnesota Timberwolves (2014-16) to have back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners.

During the 2024-25 regular season, Castle played 81 games and averaged 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and nearly one steal per game. He led all rookies in scoring and ranked high in assists and steals. He also had the highest total points, steals, and free throws made among rookies.

Castle was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month in January and March. After the All-Star break, he improved further, averaging 17.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 30 games.

At the 2025 NBA All-Star event in San Francisco, Stephon Castle was named MVP of the Castrol Rising Stars game after leading his team to a win and a spot in the NBA All-Star Game.

A panel of 100 media members from around the world voted to choose the winner of the 2024-25 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year Award. The votes were counted by the independent firm Ernst & Young LLP.
