Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min said that the upcoming Europa League final against Manchester United will be the biggest moment of his life. The match offers a chance for Spurs to end a tough season with a trophy.

Tottenham lost 2-0 to Aston Villa on Friday, marking their 21st defeat this season. They are now 17th in the Premier League with just 38 points, sitting just above the teams that have already been relegated.

With no chance of qualifying for Europe through the league, Spurs’ only hope of playing in next season’s Champions League is by winning the Europa League final against Manchester United, who are also struggling and sit 16th in the table.

“It’s been a very disappointing result and a really poor season,” said Son, who recently returned from injury, speaking to the BBC after the loss to Villa.

“In the end, winning a trophy is what we all want,” Son said.

If Tottenham beats Manchester United in Bilbao, it would end their 17-year wait for a trophy. It would also be the first major title for 32-year-old Son, who has been with the club for 10 years.

“Wednesday will be the most important day of my life. It will be amazing. We’re all excited, and I hope we can create history,” he added.
